The Imp is a market research App. The Imp serves up market research surveys, based on your estimated location.
For example, after passing an outdoor billboard advertisement, The Imp might present you with a survey asking whether you remembered the brand or product advertised on the billboard. By downloading the App, you consent to receiving notifications of market surveys based on your approximate location.
In order to serve up timely and appropriate surveys, The Imp uses persistent background location and bluetooth iBeacon technology on your iPhone to receive estimates of your location to determine if you have recently passed a billboard of interest to The Imp. At present, The Imp operates in the United Kingdom, so all billboards of interest to The Imp are located in the United Kingdom.
For example, a particular company may be advertising a product on a number of billboards - if your iPhone is detected as being in the region of one of those billboards, The Imp may send a notification to your device, inviting you to undertake a short market research survey.
The content unlocked by this invitation will be questions about brand or product recognition, recall, or other market research questions. The user may choose to ignore the invitation, or to accept the invitation, and answer the survey questions.
The Imp App passively collects geographical data from your device. This personal data is anonymised, and never shared with anybody without your permission.
Should you choose to respond on receipt of a notification that a survey is available near your location, you will be presented with a small number of questions, typically around six. If you chose to answer these questions, your location at the time of response, as estimated by your device, will be included with your answers, solely for the purpose of identifying the geographical factors impacting your answers. No other data will be incorporated with the response, unless you give explicit consent, and voluntarily present or attach that information.
The Imp works effectively with active Internet, WiFi and Location Services.
On Application startup, you will be prompted to enable these settings if not already enabled. You may choose not to enable these services, or to disable these after initial setup. The Imp will only send notifications of market surveys if these settings are enabled.
The Imp takes every precaution to minimise battery usage. However, please note the following disclaimer.
Disclaimer: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
